Currently, most automakers use a processor for every major function in a car, which means that things like heated seats, climate control, video, etc. are all powered by separate processors. It’ll be exciting to see what options and features we’ll have in the future, but we’re definitely going to hate the inevitable software bloat and in-app purchases that smartphone users know all too well. Other hurdles, like repairability, might get worse, especially since EVs are already notoriously expensive to repair if damaged.
