Bloomberg contributors wrotethat one of the key suppliers of silicon wafers for semiconductors, Sumco, completely sold out all of its products until 2026.
This applies specifically to 300 mm wafers. The company does not accept long-term orders for 150mm and 200mm wafers, but expects huge demand in this segment as well.
The media wrote that the cost of plates in 2021 increased by 10%, and then Sumco expects prices to rise until 2024. At the same time, company representatives said that they would no longer be able to expand production this year – Sumco has already taken all possible measures.
Apparently, the shortage of semiconductors will be with us for a long time.
