Iran – Media reported that Iranian air defenses were responding to an attack with drones and that the authorities suspended air traffic in the country, amid reports of an Israeli attack on Iranian facilities.
The media reported that flights from Imam Khomeini International Airport were canceled and the authorities asked travelers to leave the airport immediately.
Explosions rocked near Isfahan Airport and the Hastam Shikari military air base in Iran, while an American official confirmed the start of the Israeli attack on Iran.
The American ABC news network reported late Thursday evening, citing an American source, that Israel had targeted an Iranian site.
Many Iranian nuclear sites are located in Isfahan Governorate, including Natanz, the focus of Iran’s uranium enrichment program, but CNN quoted an American official as saying that Israel will not attack Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The network said that many flights were diverted over Iranian airspace.
Aircraft diversion
The Iranian Mehr News Agency said that the sounds of the explosion that were heard in Isfahan resulted from the destruction of three small drones that were shot down by Iranian defenses, stressing that no explosion occurred at the air base in Isfahan.
In turn, Tasnim Agency quoted an informed source as confirming that the nuclear facilities in Isfahan are completely safe and have not been exposed to any accident.
