Like any woman following giving birth, Victoria Whitfield was tired. This was November 2013, and she had undergone an emergency C-section just days before. Little Felicity, born at 31 weeks, was already with her, but continued with special care in the neonatology unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Her maternal instinct completely invaded her and she decided to go see how her daughter was. Upon arriving at the unit, she realized that she was not feeling well, despite the fact that the hospital health personnel had assured her that her condition was excellent.

Little did Victoria know at the time that the blonde nurse she said she saw next to her daughter’s crib that morning would later be found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder six more between June 2015 and June 2016.

Writings found by police later confirmed that Lucy Letby had been involved in the care of Felicity, who suffered a non-fatal collapse before being transferred to another hospital. Victoria and her husband, Mike, believe that her daughter was one of the first victims of the murderous nurse.

“I remember the first time Lucy was charged. I was in the pub and I got a call from Victoria and she said, ‘That’s why that happened that morning.’ And we were lucky, ”she said in statements to the British outlet The Times.

After the delivery, Victoria remembers seeing a nurse in a mask who told her that Felicity was doing “great”. At the time she didn’t know who she was, but now she thinks she might be Letby.

Lucy Letby worked at the Countess Hospital in Chester, England.

The little girl was only two days old when a nurse recommended Mike to go home because he looked tired. “I can’t be 100 per cent sure, but I’m pretty sure it was her (Letby) who sent me home,” he told The Times.

The next morning, they informed her that her daughter was in serious condition.

“It was around 3 in the morning, I was in my room. I don’t know what it was, call it maternal instinct. I felt like I had to go down to the neonatal unit. I walked in and everything seemed pretty quiet. Lucy Letby was by the crib and then she went into the other room. I went to see Felicity and within minutes all hell broke loose. It was as if I were not in the room, but there were nurses running everywhere,” he told the British outlet.

She is considered one of the most terrible murderers in the history of the United Kingdom.

The medical staff told her that they did not believe Felicity was capable of survival. They decided to take her to another hospital, hoping they would give them a more encouraging picture. Fortunately they received good news. At the Wirral hospital they were assured that the little girl was going to recover. She was subsequently transferred back to the Countess of Chester Hospital to continue her recovery.

“The only image that I have constantly in my head is the one from that night, when I was going to the room. She (Letby) was on the opposite side of the fan and looked up, no expression on her face. She turned and left the room. Nothing.

“That’s why I called Mike when it was in the press and said, ‘That was her.'”

The crimes for which Letby is charged occurred in 2015 and 2016, but police say they are tracing the “full footprint” of her four years as a nurse.

Letby, 33, has been found guilty of the murder of seven babies and the attempted murder of six others, the Manchester Crown Court reported on Friday.

During the trial, the evidence presented by the Prosecutor’s Office indicated that Letby ended the lives of the children, injecting them with air with an intravenous syringe while working at the Countess health center.
