Medi-Cal Income Limits 2024 2024-07-15 08:36:43

Healthcare systems are essential to American society. Everyone’s goal is to curb the negative impact of the lack of a free health program at the national level. Here we tell you regarding one of the most effective state programs related to medical care.

Programs like Medi-Cal, which is the same as Medicaid in the state of California, arise from that very need. Medi-Cal offers health coverage to people of any age who meet certain income eligibility requirements.

There are currently multiple ways to qualify for Medi-Cal. Here we focus this time on the ways to access the program for Medi-Cal beneficiaries who also qualify for Medicare. These are people who are over a certain age or are disabled.

Those who qualify for both Medicare and full-scope Medi-Cal are known as “dual eligibles” or “Medi-Medis.”

The California Working Disabled (CWD) 250% program helps working people with disabilities. If you qualify, as of July 1, 2022, a California law allows you to receive full Medi-Cal coverage with a $0 monthly premium.

What are the eligibility requirements?

These are the requirements to qualify for the Medi-Cal program.

-Meet the medical requirements of the Social Security definition of disability.

-Be working and generating income (this can be a part-time job).

-Have countable income below 250% of the federal poverty level (in 2024, this equates to $3,158 USD/month for individuals or $4,280 USD/month for couples; these figures include the $20.00 USD exemption).

Please note that disability income does not count toward the limit. This includes the following aspects:

-Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)

-Worker’s compensation

-California State Disability Insurance (CSDI)

-Federal, state and private disability benefits.
