The city of Medellín opens the doors to higher education with a new call for Sapiencia Funds, which will offer 610 places for next year. Registration is available until November 25 on the official website www.sapiencia.gov.co.
With total resources amounting to $39,338 million, this program includes $16,122 million that were managed through the Participatory Budget, benefiting 250 students. The other 360 places will be covered with $23,216 million of ordinary resources.
The mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez Zuluaga, emphasized: “We are making a great economic effort with public resources to guarantee the coverage of scholarships, tuition and maintenance of nearly 40,000 young people for four years, in addition to offering short cycle courses.”
Those selected in this call will have access to forgivable credits that will facilitate the financing of their enrollment and support, thus supporting access and permanence in post-secondary education in areas of professional technique, technology and undergraduate degrees in institutions in the Aburrá Valley.
“We believe in education as the best tool to eliminate poverty. The generation of employment and opportunities is essential, and that begins with quality education,” added the local president.

For the four-year period 2024-2027, the goal is to grant 2,600 new scholarships and credits, as well as 108,000 Zero Tuition benefits.
