In deplorable conditions, without a family member in charge and stuck in a shelter built with sticks and plastic, Medellín authorities found and rescued a 5-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl this weekend.
According to the information provided by Colonel Richad Fajardo, of the Metropolitan Police of the Aburrá Valley (Meval), the two minors were recovered to protect them in a work led by uniformed Children and Adolescents, in coordination with Espacio Público.

According to the official report, the two children are brothers and were in the sector known as the cambuche, a green area of the city, where homeless people or homeless people set up improvised roofs and walls to spend the nights and shelter.
The two minors were found during checks on parks and green areas in commune 14, El Poblado. When the police and the Espacio Público staff arrived at the cambuche in question, they saw that the girl and the boy were with an adult man, apparently homeless, who stated that he was not related to the minors, but that the mother left them there in her care without giving any explanation.

“Immediately, the protection route was activated for the boy and girl before the Family Police Station for verification and restoration of rights,” the Police reported.
The authorities also pointed out that following more than eight hours of taking the children for their protection, the mother arrived at the police station, apparently in a state of dismay, and demanded that they be handed over to her. However, for the moment, the minors are in a foster home where they are receiving protection.
The Police recalled the call to citizens to report any complaint regarding violations of the rights of children and adolescents to 123.
