After five days of intense blockades due to the truckers’ strike, The main roads of Medellín, the Aburrá Valley and Antioquia returned to normal.
Since this morning the different concentrations have dissipated and, as if nothing had happened, Traffic on the region’s roads is flowing smoothly. Truck drivers have returned to work and citizens can move around without problems.
One of the most critical points during this truckers’ strike was the Medellín-Bogotá highway, near the municipality of Guarne, where transporters gathered from last Sunday night until the early hours of Friday, September 3, when they were informed that the strike was over and that there was white smoke to clear the tracks.
The same thing happened in the Western Tunnel. which remained blocked all day yesterday. Devimar, the concessionaire of the road, reported that Traffic is flowing smoothly at the San Cristóbal interchange, which was the site of the truckers’ strike.

Likewise, the Medellín Mobility Secretariat also reported that traffic on all the city’s roads is flowing smoothly.

Likewise, the Antioquia Traffic Section reported that The blockades that occurred in some municipalities in the subregions of Urabá, Magdalena Medio, Northeast and North of Antioquia were lifted.
On the other hand, the Medellin’s transport terminals provide standard service, when yesterday they were only selling tickets to Eastern Antioquia.
It is expected that in the next few hours they will begin to to deliver food to the Wholesale Plaza of Itagüí and the Retail Plaza of Medellín, where some products were in short supply,
After the end of this truckers’ strike, the governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón, left a reflection for Antioquia and for the Government.
“For the National Government, there are causes and types of protests that are valid and others that are not. There are mobilizations that it calls legitimate and others that it criminalizes, calling them strange and obscure. This division that the National Government insists on seeking is not good for the country,” Rendón concluded.
