The work will consist of measuring meteorological and oceanographic conditions at sea for a year along the proposed route of the pipeline.
The global MetOcean team, for its part, will support the project using the new RPS MetOcean workshop in Newbury, near Reading, UK. The pipeline project is also backed by OPEC, with cooperation from 13 West African countries.
Its objectives are to facilitate increased prosperity in the region by enabling the monetization of natural gas resources. It also aims to increase energy security, to support the energy transition through access to less polluting fuels and to offer a new alternative export route to Europe.
“We look forward to supporting ONHYM and NNPC to better understand MetOcean conditions in this region. Our team is recognized for its ability to provide accurate and reliable data. Our services will support vital decision-making in the development of this prestigious project,” said Anthony Gaffney, MetOcean RPS Director – UK/EAME, on the sidelines of the signing of this contract.
