The foods that pass zero VAT are bread, milk, cheese, eggs, fruit, vegetables and legumes, potatoes and cereals. Before they had a 4% VAT. VAT on olive oil and pasta increases from 10 to 5%.
In addition, it was announced that 4.2 million families will receive aid of 200 euros.
A few more measurements:
Gas prices remain frozen.
Urban transport has a 30% reduction in ticket prices.
Intercity transport is now free.
House rents have a 2% cap on increases.
Water, electricity and gas distributors are still prohibited from cutting services for non-payment.
Pensions increase by 8.5% in 2023.
Fishing and agriculture are supported by fuel prices.
These are some of the measures decided today by the Spanish Government’s Council of Ministers. Perhaps we would have liked the Portuguese Government to have taken them.
Spain has already managed to slow down inflation, in the euro zone it is the country with the lowest inflation at the moment.
According to Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, at the press conference, the total resources applied reach 45 billion euros, to protect the middle and working class and the productive fabric of the country once morest the increase in the cost of living.
With this, Sanchez embarrasses “compadre” Costa. Portugal did not even half do to support families and companies, compared to Spain. Let’s wait another two or three months, to see if Costa learned something from “his brother”.
