MCom and Telebras provide internet antennas via satellite in So Sebastio (SP)

O Ministry of Communications it’s at Telebras are making available 10 antennas so that the communication San Sebastian may occur via satellite internet. Both bodies participate in the task force in charge of assisting people who were affected by the heavy rains on the coast of São Paulo. Juscelino Filho is Minister of Communications and commented:

We are all together in this initiative that aims to guarantee the minimum conditions for people who were affected by heavy rains and floods to be able to recover. Communication, especially over the internet, is also a right that we must ensure. The antennas will enable the communication of teams working in the most isolated areas and clearing roads, for example

In practice, the items will operate as Telebras Satellite Transportable Terminals and will connect to the internet through the Geostationary Defense and Strategic Communications Satellite, the SGDC. All the equipment stays in a suitcase 97 cm tall and 82 cm wide, in addition to 32 cm of thickness.

The antenna, in turn, has 76 cm in diameter and manages to enable a 20 Mbps connection, as well as 2 Mbps upload. Likewise, there’s a Wi-Fi modem so compatible devices can connect. In addition, the battery gives the equipment a maximum autonomy of eight hours. The president of Telebras, Jarbas Valente, also spoke regarding the situation:

Once once more, the Ministry of Communications and Telebras are mobilizing to help the Federal Government and make emergency communications possible via our satellite. This equipment will not only be able to help the various agencies that work in rescue and rescue, but also serve the community in the region.
