Driven by former F2 driver Max Chilton, the car achieved a speed of 39.08 seconds over a 1.86-kilometre course. This is 0.8 seconds better than the Volkswagen ID.R. who held the previous record.
This Batman car-inspired model has a fan mounted under the car, which sucks in air from underneath and pushes it out the back of the vehicle, working like a vacuum cleaner. This results in incredibly efficient downforce – 2,000kg to be exact.
The Spierling is impressively fast. He accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 1.5 seconds, and hit 150 mph during the race.
This car was designed taking full inspiration from the 1990s Batmobile.
