McLaren Racing has confirmed that it has ordered a new IndyCar facility for the Arrow McLaren SP team. Construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2022. The facility is located north of Indianapolis in Whitestown, Indiana.
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown announced the news when he appeared at the Indiana Global Economic Summit.
Arrow McLaren SP has made three full-time entries in the NTT IndyCar Series in 2023, and the team is aiming for long-term expansion. Reflecting McLaren’s commitment to the importance of IndyCar and North America, the new building is more than double the size of its current facility and has more than 97,000 square feet of space. The new facility will also offer a significant number of additional high quality jobs across different categories.
Sustainability has been a central focus of design and construction from the beginning, and ecological features have focused on people’s well-being.
The new facility combines a modern office space with a technical area, workshop space, logistics and transportation area, as well as a dedicated space for teams to practice pit stops. The building also has a gym focused on sports science, allowing all employees to focus on their physical and mental health both on and off the course.
The facility also focuses on technological and engineering advances and looks to the future with respect for McLaren’s history and motorsport pedigree in Indianapolis. McLaren’s advanced development programs such as Accelerator & Engage will be heavily featured at the facility.
McLaren Racing aims to begin land preparation and construction in August or September, with an estimated construction period of just over 18 months.
