Monaco Tribune had the opportunity to test the McLaren Artura, a new generation hybrid supercar, in Monaco and in the hinterland.
When we talk regarding McLaren, we immediately think of Formula 1, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. And yet. For more than 50 years, the Woking (United Kingdom) firm has been producing road cars, mainly supercars.

Since 2011, McLaren has even manufactured its engines and designed its own chassis. Enough to make your way in this market of high-powered luxury vehicles.
100% electric use possible in addition to a twin-turbo V6
And to be completely immersed in the times, the British brand has just released its second hybrid supercar: the McLaren Artura. An explosive cocktail between power and comfort, for a vehicle that aims to be eco-responsible.
In the streets of Monaco, many passers-by were surprised when this 680 horsepower car (see below) with its sharp lines passed by. With a 100% electric mode with a range of 30 kilometers on a 95 horsepower engine, the McLaren Artura slips through the principality’s arteries almost unnoticed.

But for fans of engines with deafening noise and intoxicating purrs, don’t panic. It was on the steep roads of the hinterland, from Sospel to Bézaudun-les-Alpes, that this McLaren Artura revealed all its hearing potential. And delivered its maximum power.
With its twin-turbo V6 combining a 585 horsepower thermal engine and a 95 horsepower electric motor, the McLaren Artura delivers 680 horsepower in total. Thrills guaranteed. Especially with this bi-turbo V6, which replaces the traditional, heavier V8, the British firm has managed to compensate for the weight of the hybrid.
Performance equal to that of the 720S
On arrival, only 80 kg additional compared to the McLaren 720S were added for a total weight which does not exceed 1500 kg with all fuel tanks.
With immediate thrust thanks to electricity and a passage from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds for a maximum speed of 330 km/h, the McLaren Artura matches the performance of the 720S or the Ferrari F8.

Ideal on the track or cruising on backcountry roads, the Artura is not just a Sunday car. Its active suspensions and the quality of its interior seats make it an ultra-comfortable sports car, perfect for everyday use.
Between Lando Norris and Monaco, the love story is underway
A real added value, when we also know that the vehicle’s batteries are recharged with energy recovery when braking and that this hybrid technology will save you from paying a huge penalty.
The latter is 75 euros, for an Artura displayed new at 235,000 euros. Enough to definitely take supercars and this McLaren into a new era.
