Women’s Kamimura Gakuen Wins 6th Consecutive All-Kyushu High School Ekiden[11/21 19:28]

The All-Kyushu High School Ekiden was held in Ibusuki City, Kagoshima Prefecture on the 19th, and Kamimura Gakuen achieved its sixth straight victory in the girls’ championship.

This tournament brings together the top 3 schools from each prefectural tournament in Kyushu and Okinawa. Representatives from each prefecture also participated in the National High School Ekiden held in Kyoto at the end of the year.

Women’s contested in 5 sections, 21.0975km. From Kagoshima, three schools, Kamimura Gakuen, Kagoshima, and Kagoshima Girls, participated in order from the top.

Section 1, the longest section, 6 km. Kamimura, who tied the sash in 3rd place, 18 seconds behind the top, and Ueno in the 2nd ward moved up to 2nd place in the section prize run, and fought with Chikushi Jogakuen, who ranked 1st in the Fukuoka tournament.

Chasing Kamimura, Kurokami, a first-year student in the 4th section, closes the gap with the top by running in the section prize. And the final 5th ward. Caroline, an international student from Kenya, took the top spot and extended her lead to the finish.

With a time of 1 hour, 8 minutes and 26 seconds, he won the tournament six times in a row, gaining momentum for the National High School Ekiden.

On the other hand, in the men’s race, which was contested over 7 sections and 42.195km, Kagoshima Jousai ranked 7th, the best in the prefecture. Izumi Chuo, who won the prefectural tournament, was 10th, and Kagoshima Jitsugyo was 13th.

The National High School Ekiden, in which the girls’ Kamimura Gakuen and the boys’ Chuo Izumi will participate, will be held in Kyoto on the 25th of next month.
