At the Minamidake summit crater of Sakurajima, eruptions occurred at 8:14 pm and 8:30 pm on the 11th, and volcanic plumes rose up to a height of 1,300 meters.
A moderate amount of volcanic plume flowed westward from the crater toward Kagoshima City, and at dawn, roads and cars in the city were covered with ash.
For the first time in regarding two years, Kagoshima City dispatched a road sweeper and water truck to remove ash from the road, and there was a line of cars waiting to be washed at the gas station.

“There was so much ash that it had hardened. Today was my day off, so I came to wash the car.”
Even if Sakurajima erupts following this on the 12th, ash is expected to fall west of the crater in Kagoshima City and Hioki City.
Sakurajima is currently under volcanic alert level 3, with entry restricted.
