Paris – Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier considered his feat of striker Kylian Mbappe “more restrictive” in his team than in the French national team.
Mbappe hinted at this following his country’s match once morest Austria last week, when he considered that he had a greater margin of freedom in the ranks of France, noting that with the latter “he is being asked to do different things” alongside Olivier Giroud in the absence of Karim Benzema due to injury.
“His analysis is correct. He is not in the same composition as he is in the French national team,” Galtier said in a press conference on Thursday.
“Certainly in Saint-Germain he is more restrictive up front, given the quality of players we have, but I don’t think he gets less freedom.”
Galtier explained this by the lack of a classic spearhead in the ranks of Saint-Germain, and therefore Mbappe occupies this position, assisted by the Argentine stars Lionel Messi on the right and the Brazilian Neymar on the left.
