(Mazen – 32 years old) has been suffering from severe pulmonary fibrosis for a year, and he is currently not performing the teacher’s message because of his poor health. According to Cleveland Hospital in Abu Dhabi, he needs to undergo a lung transplant, at a cost of one million and 145 thousand dirhams, but his financial situation does not allow him to take this step.
The patient, who worked in the teaching profession, appealed to the kind-hearted people who are financially affluent to help him secure the costs of the operation, so that he can return to exercising his role towards his family, society and students.
(Mazen – a Jordanian) tells Emirates Today that he has been living on this good land for 10 years with his family members, adding that he has suffered from health problems during the past years represented by shortness of breath, and that he once went to Ajman Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He had medical examinations and analyzes, the results of which showed that he had the onset of lung fibrosis, adding that “the doctor prescribed medications for him, and he continued to use them for seven years, but his health condition began to develop for the worse.”
He said: «I went to another hospital, and I underwent other examinations and analyzes, and following the doctor examined me, it became clear that my health condition had reached a dangerous stage, represented by acute pulmonary fibrosis, and the doctor assured me of my urgent need for a lung transplant, so I went to Cleveland Hospital in Abu Dhabi. Where I learned that the cost of the operation amounts to one million and 145 thousand dirhams, and this amount is much greater than my modest financial capabilities.
The patient, who worked as a teacher and stopped working regarding a year ago, confirmed that he had addressed several charitable organizations and institutions, but did not receive a response from them.
He said, “I do not know how to raise the required amount until I get treatment,” appealing to good people and people with compassionate hearts to help him pay the cost of the operation, so that he can return to his wife and two children.
Lung transplantation is performed in cases where the lung loses its ability to exchange gases, as a new lung is transplanted in its place, with the need to ensure that the ability to breathe properly can be restored.
Medical sources stress that lung transplantation is not resorted to except in cases of serious respiratory disorders such as: pulmonary fibrosis, or people who depend on an oxygen supply device for the breathing process.
Lung transplant surgery cannot be performed for patients with lung infection, liver, kidney, heart and central nervous system problems, smokers, and addicts.
The patient worked in the teaching field, and stopped working regarding a year ago.
