Mazda today announced its results for the 2022/2023 fiscal year ended March 31, 2023. The Japanese automaker sold 1.11 million vehicles worldwide from April 2022 to March 2023. That’s regarding 140,000 fewer than the year before. Nevertheless, net sales rose by almost 23 percent to 3.83 trillion yen (approx. 27.1 billion euros). The net profit even exceeded that of the previous year by more than 75 percent. It was 42.8 billion yen (1.01 billion euros).
In Europe, sales figures fell by 16 percent to 160,000 units in the past financial year. However, in the last quarter of the financial year there were signs of significant growth once more. The largest market for the brand remains North America, where 407,000 vehicles were sold. That was seven percent less than in the previous financial year. On the Japanese home market, the company was able to increase sales by eleven percent to 165,000 cars. In China, sales fell by around half to 84,000 units.
For the current financial year, Mazda expects an increasing recovery and expects sales of around 1.3 million vehicles. (awm)
