San Carlos, July 7.- (Las Noticias de Cojedes).- On the occasion of “June 27, National Journalist’s Day”, the Municipal Council of San Carlos held a special session to honor the social communication professionals of Cojedes , who work with great responsibility in honor of the truth, are guarantors of freedom of expression and information.
The event was organized by the president of the municipal chamber, Pedro José “Cheo” González, along with all the councilors and the mayor of the San Carlos municipality, Alexander Mireles. The keynote speaker for the session was Ms. Delvalle Canelón, presenter of the Globovisión program Reporte Estelar.
In his speech, Canelón referred to the journalistic exercise, the fight that Venezuelan journalists carry out for freedom of information and expression. He rejected the closure of the media on a national scale, while he lamented that in this entity the Diario Las Noticias de Cojedes and La Opinion stopped circulating, as well as deploring the recent events when Conatel confiscated the equipment of Candela 92.9Fm.
“Never forget the responsibility we have as journalists. We always have to be united to defend the exercise of democracy, since without journalism there is no democracy. Even more so when now there is talk of the reform of the Law on the Practice of Journalism, obviously there are some things to change, but it must be studied by communication professionals », he said.
For his part, Mayor Alexander Mireles highlighted the defense of journalists from Coje in freedom of expression. “They are brave men and women who go out into the streets every day to seek truthful and timely information as established by our Constitution,” he said.
He added that the communicators have the support of the Mayor’s Office of San Carlos. «Together we are going to build a San Carlos and a Cojedes of progress. The complaints that you write, I will not take as an action once morest the management, on the contrary, they will be a motivation to correct », he expressed.
In the event the Mayor of San Carlos and the City Council recognized the work of the journalists: Alexander Olvera, Elio Lopez, Brigitte Gerdel, Luis Casadiego, Gregorio Villalonga, Carlos Hernandez, Pilar War, Roselia Ojeda, Luisana Suarez, Maria Yasibit Bolivar, Jose Carlos Gomez, Hector Gonzalez, Rosedel Campo, Rigoberto Sandoval, Francisco Santaella, Jairo Herrera, Yohan Lopez, Rosa Coronel, Julio Delgado, Marilyn Henriquez, Dignorah Gomez, Igor Prieto, Iris Garcia, Maria Barreto and Alexander Zerlin, while the licensee Delvalle Canelón was awarded the order “City of San Carlos”, in its unique class.
