Vienna (OTS/RK) – “The death of Univ. Prof. Dr. “Christian Ehalt is a great loss for science, our city and all the people who were lucky enough to know him,” said Mayor Michael Ludwig, today, Thursday, on the passing of Christian Ehalt. Ehalt studied, among other things, philosophy, history, economic and social history as well as art history in Vienna, was a senior science and cultural official at the city and, from 2003, a professor at the University of Vienna.

“We owe the city’s high-quality scientific reports (2003 to 2016), the Vienna Lectures (1987 to 2017) with around 1,500 lectures and discussions as well as valuable seminars for teachers in adult education and at adult education centers and much more to his tireless scientific commitment. Vienna is losing a scientific luminary and a humanitarian who always knew how to stimulate and satisfy the thirst for knowledge of old and young. My deepest condolences now go out to his family and loved ones,” concluded Ludwig.

Christian Ehalt was the author of numerous publication series of scientific texts, recipient of the Great Silver Medal of Honor for services to the State of Vienna, honorary member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, honorary citizen of the University of Vienna, as well as many other honorary titles and awards.
