Mayor Darwin González announces new Psychology Service as part of Salud Baruta

Press release.- With the main purpose of ensuring the mental health of the people of Baruta, the Mayor’s Office of Baruta developed the first social and community space for prevention, assistance, counseling and free psychological support. This new service will be located on the Ground Floor of the Colinas de Bello Monte Headquarters, during office hours from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The strategy is created to encompass more spaces and scenarios where services and care are needed. The priority of management is to take care of mental health in times of normalization due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which made visible the great problems of anxiety, depression, insomnia, post-traumatic stress, psychoactive attitudes, among others that affect both children and older adults. .

Within the framework of the 1st Mental Health Update Conference, Mayor Darwin González emphasized the importance of attending to mental health in order to have quality of life and therefore better physical health. “We have all had difficult moments in our lives, the difference is made by the tools we have at our disposal to be able to overcome them,” he said.

Likewise, the municipal president indicated that Venezuela as a country has faced very difficult situations, which is why Venezuelans need a space where they can be heard and guided by professionals who provide prevention and assistance for minor mental health disorders.
Yorelis Acosta, promoter of the project together with the Mayor’s Office of Baruta, stressed that traditional psychology must be reinvented to effectively respond to mental health, so in addition to providing support in the Psychology Service with the most innovative methodologies It will also be attending schools and with street days.

¨In this service we are going to emphasize prevention and mental health care, both in person and online, as well as a night telephone line attended by expert psychologists in different subjects¨ Acosta pointed out.

On the other hand, the event held at the Trasnocho Cultural facilities also had the participation of experts in the area: Abel Saraiba, Ricardo Montiel, Yelena Yanes, Víctora Tirro, Gilberto Aldana, Yorelis Acosta. It was attended by representatives of public and private schools in the municipality, as well as psychology professionals.
