Maya, the famous computer-generated image creation software, works now — regarding time — natively on Macs with Apple chips (and also, of course, on Intel Macs). On the other hand, it will always be necessary to use Rosetta 2 to install the software on an Apple Silicon Mac, the installation tool being designed for machines with an Intel processor… A blessing in disguise, even if everything is not yet perfect.
Autodesk notes that several functions are still limited, like CgFX shaders which are simply not supported, just like SynColor. These are older technologies that Autodesk recommends changing to the more modern GLSL and OpenColorIO shaders. Also, the stereoCamera plug-in is not supported either. Last March, Autodesk optimized AutoCAD for Mac M1/M2 with its 2024 version.
