The May Day Golden Week in the Mainland ended yesterday. According to figures from the Immigration Department, more than 560,000 mainland tourists entered the country from April 29 to May 2, close to the government’s forecast of 600,000. The Tourism Industry Supervision Bureau received a total of 453 mainland inbound tour group registrations during the Golden Week holiday on the 5th, involving regarding 13,800 people. Among them, 30 groups arrived in Hong Kong yesterday, involving regarding 840 people from the mainland. They believe that the overall arrangements are in good condition.
The Bureau of Tourism Administration pointed out that it continued to send personnel to inspect tourist attractions, registered stores and catering establishments visited by many inbound tour group tourists from the Mainland yesterday. The regulatory measures implemented during the festive holidays have achieved results, and the activities or management of inbound tour groups from the Mainland can generally be carried out in an orderly manner. Stakeholders in the industry are encouraged to continue to coordinate well in order to improve the service quality of Hong Kong’s tourism industry.
The TIA continued that it will continue to fulfill its role in the supervision of the tourism industry, closely monitor the management of the flow of people and tourism activities of inbound tour groups from the Mainland, and maintain close communication with the tourism industry and related service providers, so as to promote the healthy development of Hong Kong’s tourism industry.
