May dance and spring festivals: It’s time for traditional costume again

“And you’re always well dressed,” says Maximilian Gössl, managing director of the family business of the same name, during his visit to Linz. “It doesn’t make you overdressed, but you’re never underdressed either.”

His company, based in Salzburg, has been producing clothing that combines tradition and craftsmanship and is in the upper price segment for decades. “Of course, people who don’t have to worry regarding money tend to come to us. But also those who value quality and sustainability,” he says, “who decide for themselves: if they do, then it’s good.”

Blue print dirndl combined with lots of gold

And in any case, it’s smart to have a suitable dirndl for the ladies. At Gössl this year, the big theme is blue printing, which “also has a long history in Upper Austria. The combination with gold is particularly nice,” says Maximilian Gössl. For the embroidery, his design team was inspired by the gold hoods, among other things.

For men, traditional jackets are a perfect “starter”. You can combine them casually with jeans, but you can also wear them elegantly to the theater. “And a Janker jacket like this fits just as well at the regulars’ table in the pub.” The classic for men is of course the leather trousers, which last practically forever. “That is also our aim: to make tomorrow’s heirlooms today.”
