Kuwaiti media, Mai Al-Aidan, attacked her Iraqi colleague, Sari Hosam, because of a video in which he indicated that he tried to communicate with the artist Zainab Al-Dahi, whom Kuwaitis call “the traitor of Kuwait”, to make an interview with her.
May Al-Aidan said during Wednesday’s episode of her program “Account Statement”, addressing her speech to Sari Hosam, that she “considers him like her little brother, and he has some successful programmes, but what is the benefit of hosting this traitorous character to live and salt Kuwait,” she said.
And she added, “Oh Hossam, my love, I mean, because I consider you like my little brother, when you do an episode, make an episode regarding someone who honors, his name is not controversial. Zainab Al-Dhahi is a person who is not controversial, but rather disgusting.”
The Kuwaiti artist, Abdul Rahman Al-Aql, had sparked a wide case of controversy, following he revealed who described her as “the artists’ spy” during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, and he was referring to the Iraqi artist Zainab Al-Dhahi.
Abdul Rahman Al-Aql appeared on the “With Hamad Qalam” program last year, and spoke for the first time regarding his memories of Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait in 1990, including the threats he was exposed to by Zainab Al Dhahi.
Abdul Rahman Al-Aql said that he was “surprised by a phone call from Zainab Al-Dhahi following the Iraqi invasion asking him to meet her immediately inside the Arab theater, in order to meet some Iraqi leaders, and she threatened him that if he did not come, she would send a police vehicle to take him by force and in a humiliating manner.”
After these statements, the name of Abdul Rahman Al-Aql and Zainab Al-Dahi topped the social networking sites, amid a remarkable attention to the details of the story, and amid a scathing attack on the artist, Zainab Al-Dahi, following revealing that information related to her.
Zainab Al-Dhahi, whose real name is Zanouba Abdul-Khader Khudair Ashour, is an Iraqi actress and singer, born in Basra on December 31, 1948. She was born to a poor family and might not complete her studies, but she learned to read and write, and lived a period of her life in Kuwait.
She began selling ducks in the city market to support her family at the age of ten, and she was good at cooking, so she worked as a cook in the house of an Iraqi merchant. Years later, a Kuwaiti merchant asked her to work for him and move with him to Kuwait, and she accepted his offer.
In 1962, Zainab moved to work in a hotel in Kuwait and met the artist Abdul-Hussein Abdul-Ridha, offering her to enter the artistic field because of the scarcity of the female element at the time, so she accepted without hesitation.
She was given a Kuwaiti artistic name that matches her character, “Zainab Al-Dahi”, because of which some believed that she was related to the director Faisal Al-Dahi.
The beginning of her artistic career was in 1964 in the series “Memoirs of Bou Alioui”, following which she presented many works in theater and television.
