The parliament is preparing to debate the country’s energy supply and a solution that mainly combines hydropower and solar power. To achieve the validated objective of a neutral Switzerland in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, the authorities are counting on the deployment of very large solar projects, particularly in the Alps (Valais votes on this subject on September 10) as well as than on the private ones who cover their roofs with panels at a rate which is accelerating from year to year. This is the moment chosen by the Federal Finance Control (CDF) to look into the system of public support for photovoltaics. The conclusion of his audit risks dampening the ambient enthusiasm: the ratio between the amount of subsidies and energy production seems mediocre in the eyes of the auditor when it comes to small installations (below 100 kWh).
To make its diagnosis, the CDF first made the following count. There are 127,172 small solar installations in Switzerland compared to 3,293 large ones. The former have an annual production of 1.69 TWh once morest 0.89 TWh for the latter. The respective subsidies are 1153 million francs once morest 393 million.
