Maximizing Anthony Davis’ Impact: Lakers’ Strategy to Optimize His Minutes at Center

According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the Lakers have spent much of the summer looking for a solution to keep Anthony Davis having fewer and fewer minutes to play at center.

Main option of the Lakers for the past two seasons in position 5, Anthony Davis has always ensured the job even if he has never hidden his preference for a place of 4 in the Californian workforce. With the arrivals of Christian Wood and Jaxson Hayes in the offseason, Unibrow should therefore leave the paint a little bit to go sail in the corners at post 4. An idea that should (really) not displease him, he who particularly enjoys playing off and be able to receive more balls with their backs to the basket.

The challenge will nevertheless be to find sensations in this position because last season Toto played 99% of the time in 5 and therefore did not really have the opportunity to practice his true passion. This new version on the Lakers side could also allow him to save energy by leaving some interior duels to his new teammates. Good news for the Lakers who will no longer necessarily need an Anthony Davis in the oven, in the mill and in the paint as was often the case last season.

Not impossible that when extending his contract and taking the MAX, Anthony Davis slipped a note to Rob Pelinka and Darvin Ham to announce that he wanted more support in the paint to be able to play more liberated. It’s fair game as they say, so now we’re putting our words into action and blowing up a great season?
