Colo Colo returned to international action this Tuesday followingnoon at the Monumental stadium. He did so in the framework of the round of 32 of the Copa Sudamericana, an instance in which he managed to beat América Mineiro 2-1 in the first leg of the competition.

One of the players who showed a good performance was Maximiliano Falcón who, following the duel, pointed out his ambition on a personal level and that he is closely linked to Marcelo Bielsa.

The coach from Rosario took over the technical direction of the Uruguayan National Team a few weeks ago and, for this reason, the Uruguayan defender wants to earn a space on the Loco’s payroll as well as his compatriot Alan Saldivia, to whom he dedicated good words.

“Alan Saldivia is doing well, he has grown a lot. The truth is that he is prepared to play. I told him from the beginning: if he kept working and training, the opportunity would come. He himself said that he had not had to play in regarding a year and a half, ”Falcón began by pointing out.

“I insisted that he continue training in the same way as when he has to play, today he has to play and he is doing very well. We have felt comfortable, we have our backs well covered and this was a pretty correct match between the two of us,” she added.

Later, he launched his own candidacy for the selection of his country. “That dream and illusion of going to the national team is always there. I think that either of them has the raw material to be there, obviously time will tell. You have to continue playing in the same way, correcting mistakes and trying to grow in every game”, he indicated.

“You always talk in the locker room before training. Defending your country’s shirt is the most beautiful thing that can happen to a footballer. Football has moments and you have to wait for your moment and work for it, because when the moment arrives, you must not disappoint ”, he added next.

Lastly, he took the opportunity to refer to the game system applied by Gustavo Quinteros in his squad, using a line of four men in the background. “There is a lot of coordination with the line of four. Quite a bit of coverage between us, trying to help the full-backs as well. We have been very good closing when they are attacking us for a sector. We’re ok”.

He also explained that “we had started the National Championship with many goals once morest, that’s why we ended up moving to the line of three, but I think it was due to a lack of concentration. Today we are emphasizing that and we are doing it quite well”.

Now Saldivia and Falcón will try to continue delivering good performances to try to attract Marcelo Bielsa’s gaze ahead of the qualifying process for the 2016 World Cup that starts in September.

One of those moments will be on July 18 when the rematch duel once morest América Mineiro will be played in Brazil.
