Maxime Martin becomes a works driver again at BMW / Sports Cars

After five years at Aston Martin, the Belgian will return to BMW from the coming 2023 season. He was employed there between 2013 and 2017. His racing program has not yet been decided.

The squad of works drivers at BMW will continue to change for 2023. After greats like Rene Rast switched to the Munich manufacturer – or the Belgian team WRT will be using BMW models from next year, Maxime Martin’s commitment has now been confirmed. “Welcome back, Maxime Martin,” says Andreas Roos, Head of BMW M Motorsport. «Maxime is one of the most versatile drivers in international racing. He’s fast, a hard, talented worker and brings a tremendous amount of experience in both sprint and endurance racing. His many successes speak for themselves. In addition, Maxime is just a great guy and it’s great to have him back in our BMW M Motorsport family. We look forward to continuing our shared success story next season.”

Martin was already under contract with BMW from 2013 to 2017. In 2016 he won the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps with an M6 GT3 together with Philipp Eng and Alexander Sims. In the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, he finished second in 2013 and 2015. The Belgian switched to Aston Martin for the 2018 season. At the 24h Le Mans 2020, Martin won the GTE-Pro class together with Alex Lynn and Harry Tincknell. But Martin also drove an Aston Martin time and time again on the Nordschleife. Now he is returning to BMW.

“I’m really looking forward to the new challenge and to returning to BMW after five years,” said Martin. “It’s going to be great to see a lot of people I know, a lot of people I’ve worked with. Now to be back there and able to work is fantastic. I’m looking forward to the future and the upcoming projects.” Details on his racing program will be announced at a later date.
