It appears that goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau is close to joining the ranks of the Portland Timbers.
According to what the journalist from The Athletic Tom Bogert on Friday, the Quebecer would soon sign an agreement with this Major League Soccer (MLS) team.
Crépeau, who is currently a free agent, spent the last two seasons with Los Angeles FC. He also greatly contributed to the participation of the Californian club in the last two finals of the Garber circuit.
The Longueuil native was seriously injured during the final game of 2022 and only took part in seven games last season. However, he did very well by allowing only two goals, in addition to achieving two shutouts.
LAFC is currently trying to convince legendary French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to join its team.
Crépeau began his career with CF Montreal and then played for the Vancouver Whitecaps. In 2021, LAFC acquired him from the British Columbia club for a general allocation amount of $1 million, making him the most expensive goalkeeper to change address in MLS.
If he joins the Timbers, Crépeau will share the locker room with goalkeeper James Pantemis. The latter has just signed a two-year contract with the Portland team.
