Do you know Maxim Tsyplakov?
We are talking regarding a player who has played in the KHL since 2017 and who is capable of threading the needle. This season, in Moscow, Tsyplakov has scored no less than 31 goals in 65 games.
He’s been followed for a while now, and the name of the Maple Leafs often comes up in the case of someone who becomes a free agent and is in line to jump to the NHL. In fact, when we look at the file, we see that the name Toronto is the one that comes up most often.
Maxim Tsyplakov (No. 9) reportedly has 12 NHL teams interested in his services, including #LeafsForever. Here are all his non-empty net goals this season (plus some thoughts on the player in the extended section)

Elliotte Friedman, along with the latest episode of his podcastconfirmed the interest of the Maple Leafs, while adding that other teams were also on his trail.
And the only other team Friedman named this morning (who said she had met with the player) was the Canadiens. You know, that team that needs an offensive boost?
It is obviously not said that the attacker will sign with CH. But as Geoff Molson’s training is one of those interested, it is a file that needs to be monitored.

Obviously, it should be noted that from 2017 to 2023 he was not a top scorer. His best season was 10 goals and in total he had 32 goals in six seasons in Moscow.
Has it exploded too well this year? Is this more of an anomaly? Who knows.
We can think that the clubs believe in him if he has been monitored for several months, but we can also think that we have to be careful when signing him, suddenly that 2023-2024 was just an exception or that he does not adapt well to the NHL .
His plan really seems to be to get to the NHL since he reportedly turned down a qualifying offer in Russia. And if Friedman says he can sign this week, we’ll believe him. He knows what he’s talking regarding.
The Sportsnet informant mentions that clubs (we imagine the Maple Leafs, Canadiens and other teams are among them) were monitoring him, going to see him and having access to Zoom sessions.
Will Kent Hughes manage to sign him? And if so, is he a player who can slot into Martin St-Louis’ top-6 in October? To have.
A lot of
– Ouch.
CF Montreal have won just one of their last 9 matches (all competitions combined).
We don’t talk regarding it much, but this statistic is enough to worry the supporters.
