On Saturday, Max Verstappen became a three-time Formula 1 world champion. A small blip in the Dutchman’s record: He didn’t win the sprint, but came second behind the promising McLaren driver Oscar Piastri.

Verstappen goes into the Qatar Grand Prix from pole position, and he has won each of his 13 poles so far this season.

Max is hot: Two years ago he came second here at the Losail International Circuit behind Lewis Hamilton. He has only yet won in Qatar and Singapore on the current GP tracks, and Las Vegas is new territory for all drivers.

And he can still break a few records in 2023, such as the one for most wins per season (Verstappen won 15 times in 2022) or for laps led per season (Sebastian Vettel led 739 laps in the 2011 GP season, Max is already at 712 laps) .
