Max Verstappen “Sergio Perez is the Minister of Defense of Red Bull F1″[F1-Gate .com]

Red Bull F1 Max Verstappen has given his teammate Sergio Perez the new nickname “Minister of Defense” to hold Lewis Hamilton down at last year’s F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Sergio Perez, who stayed out with used tires following Lewis Hamilton pitted in at the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, blocked Hamilton’s path with a deadly defense. This allowed Max Verstappen to close the 6-second gap with his rivals, leading to a reversal of the final lap.

In a video reminiscent of 2021 released by Red Bull F1, Max Verstappen said of Sergio Perez that day, “He’s now the Minister of Defense.”

Max Verstappen and Red Bull F1 team representative Christian Horner looked back on the 2021 season with pictures of the Red Bull F1 factory on the wall.

Christian Horner doubled his admiration for the Mexicans when talking regarding Sergio Perez’s victory at the F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

“I think he was a great teammate this year,” said Christian Horner. “The atmosphere between you guys was great. He says he has a beer loan for you in Abu Dhabi …”

“Oh! I’ll give you a lot of beer. It’s going to be fun,” said new F1 World Champion Max Verstappen.

Sergio Perez also took the podium in his native GP, Mexico. His father’s ecstatic celebration was one of the highlights of the weekend for fans.

Looking back on the F1 Mexican Grand Prix weekend, Max Verstappen and Christian Horner talked regarding how passionate Mexican fans are for Sergio Perez.

It was even more delightful for Mexican fans that Sergio Perez, who finished in 3rd place, became the first Mexican to reach the podium in the home race.

“The fans were already really enthusiastic when we got there,” said Max Verstappen.

“Of course, I have a lot of Czech fans, but now that I have Czech on my team, everywhere was full of Red Bull.”

“I was really happy to win the race, but I was also very happy to see the Czech Republic on the podium at the Home Grand Prix.”

“Czech dad was celebrating. I think he is still celebrating!”

Christian Horner replied with a laugh, “When you approached the car (on the podium), I thought my Czech dad would get into the car.”

Sergio Perez himself admits that he needs to improve and be more consistent in 2022, but Red Bull F1 motorsport adviser Helmut Marko has his performance alongside Max Verstappen. He said that the decision to sign Perez was right for the team.
