In the garden of Red Bull, the Dutch driver offered the best time in EL1 with medium tyres, two tenths ahead of the Ferraris of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, who were equipped with soft rubbers.
Lewis Hamilton, hard, won the fourth time in this free practice session, just ahead of the Mexican Sergio Pérez, who arrived at Spielberg suffering from a cold.
Sixth, Lance Stroll was the best placed Aston Martin in this session, the top 10 being completed by Kevin Magnussen, Fernando Alonso, George Russell and Guanyu Zhou.
