For Max Verstappen, the Hungarian GP turned out to be a very frustrating race in which he also had a very spectacular collision with Lewis Hamilton. Fortunately for Verstappen, he was able to continue but in the end he had to settle for fifth place and that caused frustration.

At the start, things initially seemed to go well for Max Verstappen, who tried to go around the outside of the two McLarens, but Verstappen ended up next to the track. However, the Dutchman kept his foot on the gas and ended up second in the race.

A clear advantage by ‘going off track’ but Max Verstappen did not agree and he also made that clear on the radio. Verstappen eventually had to give back the position. Still, he seemed to be in line for the victory but after the first series of pit stops Verstappen suddenly had a deficit of about seven seconds on Lewis Hamilton.

Verstappen questioned the strategy and was also unhappy with the car. In addition, there was a spectacular looking collision with Lewis Hamilton. Frustrations for Max Verstappen both during and after the race and that was also noticeable from his commentary after the race.

“It was a really bad race. Everything went wrong and the strategy was just not right. We know that it is very difficult to overtake here and I only had to do that during the race. We had to fight and lost a lot of time,” Verstappen said, according to his official website.

“At the first pit stops I was overtaken via an undercut. Okay, that happens, but the second time I got stuck behind Hamilton again and then you just can’t get past. They let me drive longer again and then I got into traffic with backmarkers. So I don’t understand it at all actually, it was just really bad. At the moment we are not fast enough.”
