Yesterday, we were talking regarding a mod allowing you to play Dead Space (2008) in subjective view. Today, it’s Max Payne 3’s turn to be highlighted thanks to a mod that also allows you to enjoy the title in subjective view. And if you don’t know this legendary license developed first by Remedy Entertainment, then by Rockstar Games, shame on you.
The Max Payne license, whose titles are played in the third person, plunges the player into a dark universe in which the bruised hero who gives his name to the game tracks down the man who murdered his family. THE gunfights who are really pleasant there, and the bullet time which allows you to slow down time around you in order to chain shots with unparalleled efficiency, hoist the license into the top of the best action games.
While some games take poor advantage of mods bringing in the first person view, as they weren’t designed for that view, the thing seems to work overall well for Max Payne 3. Aside from the camera switching back into view in third person when the player takes cover, or a bit funny when the character falls, everything is fluid and rather clean. Enough to enjoy the title as if it were a real FPS, without greatly altering the gaming experience, despite the lack of recoil when shooting that we generally have with TPS.
If you want to discover (or rediscover) Max Payne 3, but this time in subjective view, the mod can be downloaded from the site moddb. Of course, you will need to own the original game, available on Steam for €19.99, or at our partner Gamesplanet for the same price (but it’s a Rockstar Social Club key).
