Forward Max Pacioretty obtained his first point with the Washington Capitals on Sunday in a 4-3 victory for his team once morest the Los Angeles Kings.
It was the 35-year-old American’s third match with his new team. The former captain of the Montreal Canadiens has come a long way, having suffered two ruptured Achilles tendons in the last two years. He had also thought he would be forced to retire following the second breakup in January 2023.
After the win over the Kings, Pacioretty got emotional when players asked him for a speech in the locker room.
“It was difficult for me the last two years, guys,” he said, a tremor in his voice. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that you shouldn’t take anything for granted. This match showed that we have a special group here. Let’s make sure we never take this for granted.”
