The capricious forward, Mauro Zárate, decided to return to Argentine football and his new team will not be Boca Juniors and Vélez Sarsfield, but Barracas Central.
After recovering from a severe ligament injury and with a short spell at Danubio in Uruguay, the attacker agreed to join a first division team starting in June.
“Mauro Zarate reached a verbal agreement with Barracas Central to join the team starting in June,” confirmed journalist Germán García Grova.
Zárate would arrive at Guapo to score points and qualify for an international competition next year. Currently, the team led by Uruguayan Alejandro Orfila is fifth in Zone A of the League Cup with 19 points, the same points as Talleres de Córdoba, which is the last team that would be qualifying for the quarterfinals due to having better goal difference.
This will be the 16th club in his career, taking into account that he formed in the youth ranks of Vélez Sarsfield, where he made his professional debut, and went through Al-Sadd of Qatar, Birmingham, West Ham, Queens Park Rangers, Watford (England) , Lazio, Inter and Fiorentina (Italy), Al-Nasr (United Arab Emirates), América Mineiro, Juventude (Brazil), Boca Juniors, Platense and Danubio (Uruguay).
