Mauritania-Brazil: Brazil will grant scholarships to Mauritanian students

The Mauritanian government signed, on Tuesday in Nouakchott, a cooperation agreement with Brazil concerning the granting of scholarships to Mauritanian students in Brazilian universities.

The agreement was signed by the Mauritanian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Yacoub Ould Meïne, and the Brazilian Ambassador to Mauritania, Evaldo Freire.

The agreement “aims to strengthen cooperation in the field of scientific research, training of teachers and researchers, promotion of academic exchanges and information and expertise,” the Ministry of Higher Education said.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research specified that this agreement allows joint cooperation between Mauritanian and Brazilian universities in the field of scholarships for students and professors and a partnership in the field of research and training.

He indicated that the ministry is finalizing the scholarships that will be offered to students wishing to study in Brazil at the bachelor’s and master’s level, and that the process will be carried out in a transparent and clear manner through an official announcement.

The minister added that the Mauritanian university will soon open a Portuguese language department thanks to cooperation with Brazil.
