The sole health authority in Bolívar state, Manuel Maurera, urged the population not to lower their guard with biosecurity measures, following the national government announced the rebound in Covid-19 cases in the country.
Regarding the state of Bolívar, the also president of the Institute of Public Health, pointed out that they have registered a significant reduction in moderate and severe cases at the hospital level, to the point of reaching one or two cases of hospitalizations that are far apart.
He considered that the population in general has become aware of vaccination, by having 186 vaccination posts deployed throughout the entity, reaching immunization coverage that exceeds 90%; thanks to the integration of Ipasme, Ivss, Cuban Medical Mission, Ministry of People’s Power for Health, Military Health and the house-to-house sessions by the different Comprehensive Community Health Areas.
He explained that the rebound occurs in the seasonal post-pandemic phase, which he defines as outbreaks that are expected in each country that was affected by the health crisis, as happened with H1N1, but assured that Venezuela is prepared through the immunization coverage.
In this new wave of cases, the president of the ISP explained that the symptoms can present as mild in people already vaccinated, preventing the virus from settling at the level of the alveoli, the specific lung areas and of course, it does not produce important complications such as saturations and severe respiratory problems.
Cough, runny nose, general malaise, and in some cases fever may occur, the specialist said.
Among the recommendations offered by the single health authority of the Bolívar state are: stay hydrated and continue with hygiene measures, the use of face masks, correct hand washing with soap and water, as has been announced since the beginning of the pandemic. .
Due to the rainy season and the tropical cyclone that arrives in Venezuela, Maurera also said that this Tuesday a meeting was held with all the directors of the People’s Power for Health in the state of Bolívar, in the meeting they refined strategies in the face of any specific situation , “We are fully prepared together with Civil Protection to respond to the population and guarantee the safety of our people.”
