DEPUTY Minister of Finance Anggito Abimanyu said that President Prabowo Subianto would facilitate ministers and all echelon 1 officials with Maung cars made by PT Pindad (Persero) as official vehicles.
This was conveyed by Anggito at the peak of the 15th Anniversary and Lustrum III Vocational School of Gadjah Mada University (UGM) at UGM, Sleman, DI Yogyakarta, Monday.
“Next week I will use Maung’s car, Pindad’s car,” said Anggito, quoted by Antara, Monday (28/10).
According to Anggito, President Prabowo wants the use of imported cars as official vehicles to be eliminated during his administration.
“Pak Prabowo has said that next week there will be no more imported goods for echelon 1 cars by the minister, which is extraordinary,” said Anggito.
Anggito said the Maung car was designed by Professor Sigit Puji Santosa from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) who is also the Director of PT Pindad, using 70 percent domestic components.
“Later, if you want to see Maung, yesterday Professor Sigit from ITB, Main Director of Pindad, said that he designs Indonesian cars, 70 percent of which are domestic products,” he said.

Maung is a 4×4 light tactical vehicle produced by PT Pindad which is intended to support close combat operations and explore difficult terrain
Based on the official Pindad website, Maung is designed to have agile and reliable maneuverability to support user mobility in various operational theaters.
This tough SUV has a safe speed of 120 km/hour, 6-speed manual transmission and can cover a distance of up to 800 km.
Maung can be equipped with a 7.62 mm weapon bracket, SS2 V4 weapon console, GPS navigation device and vehicle tracker and other equipment.
This car with a capacity of four passengers weighs 2,160 kg and can be modified for various purposes.
Meanwhile, the Maung which is specifically used by President Prabowo has been modified to a European style with chrome wheels. On the back, there is the “GARUDA” logo. (Ant/P-5)
