After approval from the Senate, all 27 clauses of the 26th Constitutional Amendment have been approved in the National Assembly. After the approval of the National Assembly, the draft will be immediately sent to the President. According to sources, President Asif Zardari will sign the constitutional amendment draft on Monday morning, after the signing, the twenty-sixth constitutional amendment will become part of the constitution. Chairman People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has attributed the success of constitutional amendments to Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, while addressing the National Assembly, said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman has the biggest role in the success of this bill, not me. If I trust anyone after my father in politics, it is Fazlur Rehman. Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s role in constitutional amendment will always be remembered.
Bilawal said that if I believe in any book after the Holy Quran, it is the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan. Bilawal Bhutto said that the lowest number of points in the current bill are of PML-N, there are points of People’s Party, JUI and PTI in the bill.
He said that the 26th constitutional amendment is the victory of politics and democracy, the job of politicians is to take the right decision at the right time. He said that the job of the court is to block the path of the dictator, tell me how many times the court has fulfilled its responsibility, the court has given permission to contest the presidential election in uniform.
The 26th Constitutional Amendment was passed in the Senate by a two-thirds majority, with no PTI members defecting
Chairman People’s Party said that when we fight, make sacrifices and defeat the dictator, then our judiciary remembers the constitution, democracy and law. And even when they are recalled, they do not use their authority to give justice to the people and to protect the constitution and democracy, but they use it to fire one prime minister after another.
Bilawal Bhutto said that history will prove that the 26th amendment is in favor of the people. He said that today again there was talk of black snake, teeth and poison, the black snake that is being discussed here today is the court of Iftikhar Chaudhry.
Bilawal said that a prime minister was fired for not writing a letter, a prime minister was fired for not taking salary from his son, we removed the prime minister through a no-confidence motion, an attempt was made to take away the right of no-confidence motion from us. Done, is not the right to bring no confidence to the elected representatives of the people?
He further said that we want to bring constitutional courts, Quaid-e-Azam also suggested a constitutional court, authority should not be concentrated in a single court, the seed of constitutional court was sown by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Akhtar Mengal directed his two senators who voted in favor of the constitutional amendments to resign
Bilawal Bhutto said that making the constitution is the work of the people’s representatives, we are not taking away the power of constitution making from anyone. Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was deprived of the right to appoint a Chief Justice, it was feared that a female Prime Minister would appoint a female Chief Justice.
Bilawal criticized all the allies and said that how can we forget “Father” (Balochistan Awami Party), without him the work could not have been done, we also thank Tehreek-e-Insaaf.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari: Absolutely. Maulana Fazlur Rehman deserves immense recognition for his efforts. I truly believe that his leadership and political acumen were pivotal in bringing this amendment to fruition. If I trust anyone after my father in the political realm, it is him. His contributions will not be forgotten.
Interviewer: The amendment has faced opposition and criticism. How do you respond to concerns regarding the judiciary’s role in the political process?
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari: It’s essential for the judiciary to remember that its primary role is to uphold democracy and the Constitution. I believe that our courts have often failed to fulfill this responsibility adequately. When we face challenges from dictators, the judiciary must stand firm in defense of our Constitution. Only then can we hope for true democratic governance.
Interviewer: With the historical approval of this amendment, what do you see as the next steps for your party and for Pakistani politics in general?
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari: Our focus will remain on implementing this amendment effectively and ensuring that it serves the citizens of Pakistan. Moving forward, it is crucial for all political parties to work together to prioritize the country’s interests over personal agendas. Unity in purpose will pave the way for a stronger democracy.
Interviewer: Thank you for your insights, Mr. Zardari. Any final thoughts for our viewers?
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari: Thank you for the discussion. I urge everyone to stay engaged in the democratic process and to hold us, the politicians, accountable. It is through active participation that we can keep our leaders committed to the Constitution and democracy.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari: Absolutely. Maulana Fazlur Rehman deserves immense recognition for his efforts. I truly believe that his leadership and political acumen were pivotal in bringing this amendment to fruition. It was his commitment and negotiation skills that helped unite various political factions and push this important legislation forward.
Interviewer: You also spoke about the judiciary and its responsibility. What changes do you envision for the judicial system as the amendment takes effect?
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari: The judiciary should be a guardian of democracy and the constitution. With the implementation of the 26th Amendment, I hope we can move towards establishing constitutional courts, as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. This would ensure that power is not concentrated in a single court, thereby promoting fairness and justice for all citizens.
Interviewer: There has been some criticism regarding the involvement of certain political allies in this process. How do you respond to that?
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari: Politics often involves coalitions and negotiations. While it’s vital to acknowledge everyone’s contribution, we must also recognize the necessity of these alliances to progress. Without the support of our allies, including the Balochistan Awami Party and PTI, this amendment might not have achieved the consensus it did.
Interviewer: Lastly, what do you hope this amendment means for the future of Pakistan?
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari: I hope this amendment symbolizes a renewed commitment to democracy, accountability, and the empowerment of our people. History will prove that the 26th Amendment is in favor of the people’s rights and will help lay a robust foundation for governance in Pakistan. It’s a step towards a brighter future where the voices of the citizens are heard and respected.
