In the past, Matyszkowicz was the editor-in-chief of the quarterly “Fronda Lux”, which disappears from the market. – The time of quarterly magazines distributed in Empik stores is coming to an end. I see the future of this environment in working with the film sector, he says.

The New Venture of Mateusz Matyszkowicz: Roma Film!
It seems that Mateusz Matyszkowicz isn’t letting his dismissal from Telewizja Polska sit idly by – no sir! Instead, he’s ventured into the world of film with his new company, Roma Film, making headlines faster than a misquoted screenplay.
Who would have thought that the former president of TVP would take off his executive hat and put on a director’s cap? Well, here we are! News flash: Matyszkowicz is ready to dive into scriptwriting and film production, and he’s convinced that the streaming market is the place to be. Because who doesn’t want a slice of that pie? Especially when Netflix is already busy cranking out content like a caffeinated squirrel.
From TV to the Silver Screen
During his time atop TVP, Matyszkowicz rolled out some notable productions like “Dewajtis” and “Matylda”, which raked in 2.47 million and 1.86 million viewers, respectively. Pretty impressive, eh? There’s something special about a good costume drama that keeps the viewers glued to their sofas, cringing at the lack of WiFi.
Now, he’s set to produce more costume dramas and even some comedies! Yes, you heard that right—commercial productions are on the menu. It’s as if he’s taken a page out of the theatrical playbook of creating timeless tales that remind us both of our glorious past and our questionable hairstyles.
While he’s no stranger to the editorial world—having previously helmed the quarterly magazine “Fronda Lux”—Matyszkowicz is ready to leave traditional media behind. “The time of quarterly magazines distributed in Empik stores is coming to an end,” he declares boldly while probably wondering where to hang his freshly minted Oscars. Changing times, eh? The millennials are texting, not flipping pages!
A Propaganda Legacy?
It’s hard to ignore that Matyszkowicz continued the propaganda line set by his predecessor, Jacek Kurski. Some may say he was more of a good soldier than a captain steering a ship to uncharted waters. After all, being dismissed by the Minister of Culture is like being voted off the island—at least he’ll have stories to tell at parties!
Now as the president and minority shareholder of Roma Film, he’s assembling a crack team of entrepreneurs. Not media moguls, mind you, but everyday businessfolk. Let’s see how that works out! If there’s a lesson here, it’s that when one door closes, a wave of film concepts opens—hopefully not the kind that involves a low-budget remake of “Cats.”
So, what can we expect from Roma Film? Matyszkowicz aims to push narratives that reference the good old days of Polish television. The nostalgia factor is strong with this one. It’s like his own personal time machine, except with more craft services and fewer DeLoreans involved.
In essence, Mateusz Matyszkowicz is not just reviving his career; he’s attempting an audacious leap into a new realm of storytelling, albeit with a wink to the past. Who knows? Maybe his antics will lead to a series you simply can’t binge-watch fast enough—at least until he gets canceled.
