“You don’t have to belong to a club of followers, but politics affects you, whether you like it or not. To love your country, you don’t have to love the government, or hang a poster of any politician above your bed. Politicians work for you, not the other way around. They are a representation of your interests in the process of managing the budget that you and other citizens contribute to. It is not the place of politics to decide about your right to your body and soul,” wrote Matylda Damięcka on November 11.
This text appeared in one of the series of photos she published on Instagram. Damięcka often refers to important events in this way – she shows meaningful graphics.
The author added that we should all care to “avoid the unhealthy situation of mono-power, which is and will be, regardless of the party, a pathology.” “Without your freedom, there is no freedom of mine. Without my freedom, there is no freedom,” she said at the end.
In the above-mentioned graphics, the artist showed, among others: theme of a divided country. One of them also featured eight stars with the slogan: “Let’s like each other” by Damięcka. In the next photo she showed that there is no equal sign between love for the country and love for the government. She called the Sejm building a “zone of limited trust.”
On the Russian colors, i.e. three different stripes in white, blue and red, she added white stars, which are a characteristic part of the US flag (there are 50 white stars on a blue background).

(clears throat) Ah, politics, the gift that keeps on giving… or taking, depending on who’s in charge, isn’t it? (winks)
So, we’ve got Matylda Damięcka, an artist with a flair for the dramatic, sharing her two cents on Instagram. Now, I’m not sure what’s more impressive, her graphics or her apparent conviction that people actually read Instagram captions. (chuckles) I mean, I’m guilty of just scrolling through, looking at the pictures, and thinking, “Oh, nice… cat.”
But, I digress. Damięcka’s got a point, folks. Politics affects us all, whether we like it or not. It’s like that one aunt at the family reunion – you can’t avoid her, no matter how hard you try. (laughs) And, let’s be honest, some politicians are about as trustworthy as a vegan at a barbecue festival. (winks)
Now, I love how she says, “Politicians work for you, not the other way around.” Ah, if only that were true, eh? It’s a bit like saying, “I’m not arguing, I’m just explaining why I’m right.” (smirks) We all know how that usually ends.
But, in all seriousness, Damięcka’s got a valid concern about the dangers of “mono-power.” It’s like that old saying, “Absolute power corrupts absolutely… unless you’re a politician, then it’s just business as usual.” (rolls his eyes)
And, I must say, her graphics are quite… illuminating. (pauses for comedic effect) I particularly enjoy the one with the Russian colors and the white stars. It’s like she’s saying, “Hey, Russia, you can keep your stripes, but we’ll take the stars, thank you very much!” (laughs)
All joking aside, Damięcka’s message is clear: we need to care about politics, and we need to be aware of the impact it has on our lives. So, the next time you’re tempted to scroll past that news article or ignore that politician’s tweet, remember: your freedom is at stake… or, at the very least, your right to complain about the government on social media. (winks)
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go like some Instagram posts and pretend I’m a responsible citizen. (chuckles) Cheers, folks!
