Maturín City Hall installs reflectors in Module IV of the Sports Center

The Mayor’s Office of Maturin Through the Public Lighting Department, four 600-watt reflectors and two 400-watt reflectors were installed, in the internal part and at the main entrance respectively, of Module IV of the Maturín Sports Complex.

To achieve this, they carried out prior tree pruning actions, thereby improving visibility and safety, ensuring that the light has a greater reach in the area.

Robert Leira, coach of the volleyball teams that have been working in these spaces for almost a year (Monagas Voley Club, Playeros de Monagas and Sultana de Monagas) and in charge of Module IV, said that in the time they have been practicing sports, this is the first time they have received these benefits.

“We thank Mayor Ana Fuentes for the support she is giving us with the lighting. Previously, we might practice here until 6:30 in the evening, but now with these improvements we can be safe because the surroundings are illuminated and we can prolong our activities,” he explained.

In Maturín 300 athletes will benefit

Leira stressed that “around 300 athletes would benefit from this aid.”

For her part, young Jocarlys Sotillo, an athlete in the children’s category of the Monagas Volley Club team, expressed her genuine gratitude to Mayor Ana Fuentes for the actions that today allow them to enjoy better lighting and visibility conditions during practices.

“We trained very early because we didn’t have lighting and many of my classmates mightn’t come because they had classes and that limited our training,” said Sotillo.

The athlete took the opportunity to invite Maturin youth to study and practice a sport that is good for their health.
