The Matthew Perry Foundation, which was set up in memory of the US-Canadian actor, announced this on Instagram. “We have received reports that Matthew’s official X page has been hacked and is redirecting users to a rogue website soliciting cryptocurrency donations.”
“Please do not donate to this website or share the fraudulent posts on social media.” The platform “MatthewPerryFoundation.org” is “the only website connected to the foundation,” it said. As the foundation further announced, it wants to help other people who struggle with addictions.
Perry was found dead in a hot tub at his home in Los Angeles at the end of October at the age of just 54. According to the coroner’s office, he died from the effects of the anesthetic ketamine. The actor had previously spoken publicly regarding his struggle with addiction to alcohol and drugs, among other things, and also wrote regarding it in his autobiography “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,” published last year.
