Matthew Perry, Arrests Made in Death of “Friends” Star – La Stampa

Matthew Perry’s personal assistant, two doctors and several others have been charged with supplying the ketamine that caused the Friends star’s death in October. In documents filed in federal court in California, prosecutors said that The actor’s assistant and an acquaintance worked with two doctors and a drug dealer to procure thousands of dollars’ worth of ketamine for the Hollywood star in the weeks before his death, who had a history of drug abuse.

There would have been searches and seizuresincluding telephones, smartphones and tablets, just for identify who supplied the actor with ketamine which caused him to lose consciousness in the hot tub and result in his drowning.

Matthew Perry’s personal assistant injected him with ketamine the day the actor died, according to prosecutor Martin Estrada. Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry’s assistant, is the one who found the actor’s lifeless body in his hot tub on October 28. Iwamasa himself has already pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him by the prosecutor’s office.

“The death of 54-year-old actor Matthew Langford Perry was due to the acute effects of ketamine,” the statement read, months after the actor was found dead in his home’s bathtub. It added: “Other contributing factors to his death include drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of Buprenorphine (used to treat opioid abuse).” “The death was accidental,” the coroner concluded.

A grand jury indictment points the finger at Jasveen Sangha, who prosecutors call known as “the ketamine queen,” and Salvador Plasencia, known as “Dr. P.” Sangha ran a stash house in North Hollywood. Plasencia, a doctor at an emergency medical center, is accused of being among those who worked to get ketamine to Perry despite knowing he had a history of drug abuse. The charges against them include conspiracy to distribute ketamine; distribution of ketamine resulting in death; possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute; and tampering with and falsifying records related to a federal investigation. The actor’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa; another doctor, Mark Chavez; and Erik Fleming, an acquaintance of Perry’s; were each separately charged with various crimes, including conspiracy to distribute ketamine. Some of those involved used encrypted messaging apps and coded language to discuss drug trafficking, including referring to ketamine bottles as Dr Pepper, cans and bots, according to court documents.

The discovery of the body

Perry was found unconscious around 4 p.m. on October 28, in the hot tub of his villa in Pacific Palisades, a wealthy and elegant district of the Californian metropolis, near Malibu. His agent called 911, but when paramedics arrived on the scene, they could only declare the actor dead. The Los Angeles Department of Forensic Medicine conducted an examination at the scene and then transferred the body to the Forensic Science Center for an autopsy.

Today, however, there would have been a turning point. The dose of the substance detected in the body of the «Friends» star was high and not compatible with the quantities prescribed by a doctor for the treatment of anxiety and depression.The investigation has been ongoing for months and, according to TMZ, a doctor and some drug dealers were reportedly arrested.
