Lothar Matthaus, the German football legend, has played down the impact of his country’s negative results in the European Nations League on the team’s upcoming campaign in the 2022 World Cup.

The German team was unable to qualify for the semi-finals of the Nations League, as it finished third in its group, following it stumbled in the last two rounds less than two months before the World Cup in Qatar.

Despite this, Matthews wrote in his column on “Sky Sports”: “I am not very worried before the World Cup, despite the last two games, especially given that we have a very good coach and a squad full of high quality.”

He added, “Yes, the performance was not what we wanted from the Mannschaft, especially in the defeat once morest Hungary and the draw with England.”

Matthews pointed out that other major teams also suffered from problems, such as Spain, France, England, Croatia and Belgium, adding, “If we want to qualify for the semi-finals, there are a few things that we have to improve.”

The Bayern Munich legend urged the German national team players to impose their style of matches while creating many chances and turning them into goals, as well as improving on the defensive side.

Matthaus believes that Bayern’s negative results affected the Germans’ performance, given the team’s reliance on a number of Bavarian giants, who did not win in the last 4 rounds of the Bundesliga.

At the conclusion of his article, Mateusz, the coach of Mannschaft, Hans Flick, called for the necessity of relying on Jamal Musiala in the starting lineup, given his ability to make the difference, which he demonstrated repeatedly with Bayern Munich.
