A former driller in the Oklahoma oil industry, Bill has been making a living from odd jobs in the construction industry since he was laid off. With no recent news from his daughter Allison, who is being held in a Marseille prison for the murder of her girlfriend, of whom she claims to be innocent, the guy decides to go there to try to find out exactly what is going on. Determined, Bill knows that it will be difficult, especially because he does not speak French. However, chance does things well, because as soon as he arrives on the banks of the Canebière, he meets Virginie, a bilingual actress who agrees to help him with his efforts. In return, Bill becomes the babysitter for Maya, whom she is raising alone. But he is far from being out of the woods because his own daughter does not want to tell him anything about a certain Akim who was present on the day of the murder and has since disappeared into thin air. Despite the help of a local investigator, nothing is moving forward, and as a worthy heir to Uncle Sam, Bill will want to conduct his own investigation with… his own means.
